    Deadline Details

Deadline: 8 business days from first furnishing of labor, services, or materials

Oregon counts BUSINESS DAYS only. Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and state/federal holidays are excluded from the 8-day count.

Special Note: Oregon's 8-business-day deadline is one of the shortest in the country. Weekends and state holidays are excluded. Missing this deadline can result in complete loss of lien rights.

    Service Requirements

The notice must be delivered by certified mail, registered mail, or personal delivery to the owner, mortgage holder, and construction lender (if applicable).

    Common Compliance Issues in Oregon

Disclaimer: The following are frequently cited issues based on statutory requirements. This is NOT legal advice. Consult a Oregon-licensed construction attorney for guidance on your specific situation.

    1Miscalculating "Business Days"

Oregon's deadline is 8 working days, not calendar days. Failing to properly exclude weekends and officially recognized Oregon state holidays causes calculation errors.

Prevention: Use software that automatically excludes Oregon state holidays and weekends from deadline calculations.
